Traffic fears unfounded

In response to the email from Bruce Carlin, (Say No to Euxton Quarry).

I was a quarry manager for 44 years, and I worked for Tarmac PLC, and I neither support nor oppose the proposed development.

His statement of 120 HGVs on the road every day I feel is much overstated, as at 20 tonne pay load per vehicle, this would give a daily output of some 2,400 tonnes per day.

I suspect a truer figure would be seven or eight vehicles per day, each expected to do five or six loads each.

With regard to concerns on dust and pollution, Tarmac's rigorous environmental policy was one reason I took early retirement, as no deviation from their strict demands was allowed.
