Demi Moore has revealed she was so struck by Ashton Kutcher that she was often left speechless.

The GI Jane star claimed her emotions overtook her ability to speak, telling US Harper's Bazaar: "When you don't know someone, you can't just jump and say, 'I love you. Nice to meet you, I love you!' - we used to end our calls or emails with 'And everything we don't say'."

Demi said she knew instantly Ashton, whom she met through friends, was the one, adding: "I knew it had the potential to be something special right away."

"It was like meeting somebody that I've just known where you just recognise one another. It was so disproportionate, the level of emotion we were experiencing to the time we had spent together."

Demi, who at 47 is 15 years older than her husband, also revealed she finds the term 'cougar' "distasteful".

"Cougar has become so distasteful. I really hate that expression. Puma has a sweeter quality, more elegant," she added.

"And then somebody said to me, 'Pumas are only for people in their 30s'."
