Former children's presenters Dick and Dom are leaving Radio 1 as part of the station's weekend schedule changes.
Nick Grimshaw, who currently presents a Sunday evening slot, has been promoted to the weekend breakfast show.
Nihal, who also has a show on the BBC Asian Network, is moving from Saturday and Sunday mornings to the afternoons.
Sara Cox and Edith Bowman both return to the station next month following maternity leave.
Dick and Dom - Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood - have been presenting a Sunday 10am slot since September last year.
They first found fame and received Children's Bafta nominations as hosts of the Saturday morning BBC1 show Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow.
But the show was denounced by MPs, parents and regulators for its lavatorial humour and features which included Make Dick Sick, Bunged Up and Bogey, in which children were encouraged to shout "bogey!" as loudly as possible in public places.
A revival of quiz show Ask The Family on BBC2 was meant to turn the pair into the BBC's version of Ant and Dec but it failed to set the schedules alight with disappointing viewing figures.
Radio 1 head of programmes Ben Cooper said: "Nihal and Nick Grimshaw have already proved themselves in their current slots and I'm really excited about what they can achieve with their new shows. It'll be great to have Sara and Edith back in the Radio 1 family."
He added: "We are also saying goodbye to Dick and Dom and I want to wish them all the very best and say thanks for their work at Radio 1."
