Chorley are hoping for a bumper crowd when they host Widnes in the second round of the Cockspur Cup National Knockout on Sunday.

The tie was set up after Chorley beat Wavertree in a bowl-out last Sunday.

Wavertree had scored 210 in their 45 overs before heavy rain caused the match to be abandoned.

The match against Cheshire County Premier League side Widnes is due to start at 1pm.

Chorley chairman Viv Norman said: "We are hoping the weather will be fine and we have a large crowd down at Windsor Park to support the team.

"It is excellent to have a home cup tie and a big crowd will be good news for the club as a whole from a financial point of view."

Chorley had their second league victory of the season in their sights at St Annes on Saturday when they had the home side struggling on 50-5 having scored 165 in their innings.

Pro Friedel de Wet had dismissed both openers while Bill Smith had claimed three wickets.

But Stephen Twist with 72, and an unbeaten 36 from Russell Bradley saw St Annes home with four wickets to spare.

Andrew Holdsworth had earlier top scored with 46 for Chorley in their innings while Twist finished with figures of 5-18.

Leyland currently top the Northern Premier League table on 54 points, six points clear of St Annes.

Chorley are at home to Preston in the league on Saturday.

l Withnell Fold beat White Coppice by four wickets in the Palace Shield Division One match on Saturday.

Stephen Cooke top scored with 50 and wayne Dixon hit 40 as White Coppice scored 201 all out with Michaal Wiggins taking five wickets for 44 for Fold.
