The atmosphere was buzzing when Apollo gymnastics, based at Holy Cross High School and supported by Chorley Schools Sports Partnership and Chorley Borough Council, took part in their first external club competition at City of Preston Gym Club.
During a fantastic weekend of competition the 31 boys and girls showed great talent and promise and came away with a staggering 34 medals between them.
After some remarkable individual achievements on both floor and vault there were 8 gold medalists, 6 silver medalists and 8 bronze medalists and of the 8 rounds the club was involved in Apollo Gymnastics had 7 overall gold, 3 overall silver and 2 overall bronze medal winners.
This is a remarkable achievement for a new gymnastics club and all the coaches expressed their great delight at the energy and enthusiasm shown by the children and stated that the tremendous results surpassed all their expectations.
Sun shining, birds singing, home-cooked food and Shakespeare- these were definitely the right ingredients for a perfect evening.
