Seven ladies and five men from Chorley AC travelled to Oldham for the first of the NOE Track and Field League Meets last Saturday.
It was a great day for the ladies which saw Eloise Manger the outright winner of the Javelin Competition throwing over 36 metres and coming second in the Hammer, Shot and Discus.
On the Track Laura Ashcroft recorded two personal best performances in the 100m and 200m A Races for third place in both at a time of 12.8s and 27.00s respectfully. Team-mate Emma Booth won the 100m B Race in 13.8s and was 2nd B in the 200m with 28.2s.
Laura Livesey competed in 5 individual events taking 1st B in the Long Jump and Discus, 2nd B in the Hammer, 3rd A in the 400m Hurdles and 4th A in the 1500m in 5.34.6. The longest female race of the day the 3000m saw Emma Perrin cross the line in 4th place in 11.32.0 and in her 400m Hurdles event was 2nd B despite having to clear a hurdle which had been wrongly set at the men's height. Emma's Shot Putt competing in the B event achieved 3rd.
Making her debut in the League U17 Jade Brown had an excellent Long Jump to take 2nd A place and went on to set a new P.B. in the 100m Guest Race of 14.5s. Also competing for the first time Jeanette Murray's 3000m race saw her finish 2nd B and going one better in the Javelin by winning the B event.
To end their day Emma Booth, Laura Ashcroft, Emma Perrin and Jade Brown were narrowly beaten on the line to finish 2nd in the 4 x 100m Relay.
The male athletes also had excellent results. 100m Sprinters Simon Sumner and Michael Hough showed a clean pair of heels to all their fellow competitors winning both the A and B Races giving them new P.B's with 11.2s and 11.3s respectively. The 200m saw them complete the double winning both A and B Races Simon's time 23.4s and 23.8s for Michael again personal bests. In the 100m Guest Race John Wright with 12.00 dead just got the edge on U17 Ben Knight who equalled his P.B. with 12.2s.
The Club's steeplechaser, Nathan Lawton, tackled the barriers and water jump for 3000m in a time of 11.22.6 for 3rd spot.
With a lack of field athletes it was left to John Wright to putt the shot gaining valuable points with 6th A.
A great run for 2nd place in the 4 x 100m Relay with Michael Hough 1st leg, Simon Sumner 2nd leg, John Wright 3rd leg and bringing them home.
