British Paralympic swimming hopeful Heather Frederiksen was in Chorley today to speak to children at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.

Heather, pictured with pupils, who is a world, European and British record holder, also handed out certificates to pupils who had taken part in the Chorley Schools Swimming Gala.

Kathy Blackledge, deputy headteacher, said: “It was very nice to have her come into the school. She is off to Beijing for the Paralympics in about four weeks time and everyone is very hopeful that she will come back to visit us again, with a medal.”

Heather was a British champion in able-bodied open water events before an accident in 2004 left her disabled.
