Manchester City will return to the United States for a second consecutive summer, the Premier League leaders have announced.

No fixtures have yet been announced, but one match will be played in New York – home to sister club New York City.

Pep Guardiola’s side played in the International Champions Cup last year – with fixtures staged in Houston, Nashville and Los Angeles.

City’s injured left-back Benjamin Mendy travelled to New York as part of the announcement.

“It’s been amazing to come to New York City to announce the tour and give some local fans a real surprise!” the Frenchman said.

“The soccer fans in the United States are so passionate about the game and it’s always a pleasure to visit here.

“When I go back to Manchester and tell the players about my trip I know they will be really excited to come here in the summer. We can’t wait to play in front of our US fans again.”

However, speaking at his press conference on Friday, Guardiola cautioned that it is unlikely be a full-strength squad that makes the trip.

“A lot of players will be at the World Cup, so I don’t know how many will be available to make the pre-season,” he said. “I have a little idea about the players who are going to join us in the States but we are going (to) see.”
