Chorley looked to keep up their promotion chase against a Mossley Hill side who had recorded their first win of the season the previous week and were full of confidence coming into the game.
After good work from the groundstaff (the Chorley players) the pitch was deemed playable by the referee after a wet 24 hours.
Chorley started the brighter and within 10 minutes were on the scoresheet through a Steve Pearson drop goal.
Chorley’s lead didn’t last for long when Mossley Hill capitalised on some careless play from the home side and were awarded a penalty try after a Chorley player was seen to have prevented a certain try by dragging the Mossley Hill man down without the ball.
This put the visitors 7-3 up at the break.
In the second half Mossley Hill had their best period in the game but never really looked like breaching the best defence in the league.
With 20 minutes to go Chorley went back to basics and played to the conditions and it wasn’t long before flanker Hanz dived over after some good all round forward play.
Pearson converted to put the hosts 10-7 up.
Five minutes later and the Chorley pressure told, this time it was scrum half Chris Highton who darted his way over the line, Pearson converted to put the game beyond doubt.
Sensible rugby and some good kicking saw out the last five minutes to give Chorley the victory they deserved.
