Chorley opened the new North Lancs League season with a hard fought win over West Park Warriors.
Having not played each other for a few years Chorley took the game straight to West Park with the forwards carrying on from last season with some great driving plays.
It was a break from inside Chorley's half by the backs which set up field position for captain Mike Jessiman to crash over from close range after a well worked move with Chris Highton.
Although the conversation was missed Chorley kept on the pressure playing smart rugby allowing Andy Kavanagh to crash over from close range.
This time the conversation was successful.
West Park responded with two quick tries which they converted.
In the second half it was much of the same with both teams trying to get that score to get back on top.
It eventually came through a penalty for Chorley and seemed to settle their nerves.
In between some well worked phases by Chorley which allowed a few clean breaks which on another day would have been finished off.
On the whole though it was a good first outing for the season which shows a lot or promise.
The 1st team travel to Carnforth this coming Saturday for what will be another hard game.
