After a great cup win at Rochdale last week Phil Callander's team were back in league duty against Preston Grasshoppers.

The game started slowly in muddy and windy conditions with both teams vying for the ball.

Follwoing some missed tackles, Preston scored in the corner which gave Chorley a wake-up call.

The Chorley pack started to take control mid way through the first half with captain Phil Callander dominating the lineouts with great play by returning hooker Chris Turner, while the pack controlled the scrums.

Preston were struggling and soon after centre Daniel Farrow ran in to score, and the at half time score was just 7-5.

With two Chorley players injured, the introduction of John Jackson and Dave Martin proved dividends with John Jackson scoring early on.

The centre partnership of John Jackson and Rick Whitehead was working well, and winger Morris was sapping the Preston defence, with Preston winning absolutely nothing in set pieces.

Tony Dodd ran through the Preston defence, and soon after came Chorley's try of the season, Daniel Farrow. now at full back, catching the ball under his own posts and running the full length of the pitch beating at least six tacklers to dive under the posts.

Phil Callander said: "Given the conditions, we put on a good performance. I think the conditions worked for them as I know we would have scored more. Marcus Quick had a great game on the flank and put in some good hits.

"Danile Farrows' try was exceptional. He has bags of potential."

Chorley 2nds are away at Clitheroe this weekend.
