Chorley put up a spirited performance against in-form promotion contenders Fylde, a team containing a very experienced pack including many county players.
Chorley went at Fylde from the start with the pack pushing the much bigger Fylde pack around the pitch winning many scrums against the head and messing up there line-outs with Jon Guest particularly in excellent form.
Chorley had been camped in the Fylde twenty two, but against the run of play some missed tackles let in Fylde for a try.
Chorley continued to dominate in the scrums and just before half time, number eight Anthony Matson made a great pick up before passing to flanker Steve Goodman to finish under the sticks.
Early in the second half weak tackling let in Fylde for their second try.
Chorley came back after good work from the forwards and slick hands from the backs, when full back Matt Bates sprinted in at the corner.
Chorley put the pressure on Fylde with scrum after scrum and with returning prop the Sarge adding his considerable bulk but Fylde just held out to win this entertaining encounter.
Chorley captain Phil Callander said: "This was a great game for the spectators, very hard to play in, this was played in great spirit.
"We are obviously disappointed as we could have won but Fylde are near top for a reason and we played out of skin."
Chorley 2nds are at home to Clitheroe on Saturday.
