Chorley showed there intent against promotion favourite Hoppers straight from the kick off.

A fine chip and take by stand off Martin Whitfield saw Chorley take the lead.

The Chorley front five were in fine form winning scrums against the head with Jon Guest, Jeff Upton And Chris Reed grinding down the Hoppers front row, and Steve Goodman ran in to score.

With captain Phil Callander wining most of the lineouts, the ball was flung out to the wings where Jake Upton had to run half the length of the pitch skinning two players and diving in at the corner for Chorley's best move of the match.

In the second half Hoppers came back with a penalty, but that was shortlived as more lineouts and scrums were won with Martin Whitfield controlling the backs.

After a barnstorming run by centre Richard Hampson, Martin Whitfield ran in his second try as the pack tightened the noose on the Hoppers' forwards.

Steve Goodman ran in unopposed for his seconed try and seal a great win.
