On a great day for running rugby, Carnforth seized the opportunity to restrict Chorley by playing on a narrow pitch favouring their own forwards dominated game.
Despite a mixed opening Chorley secured the first points with a penalty.
This was followed by a missed penalty attempt. Despite securing little ball from the lineout, and only scrappy possession from the back of the scrum, Chorley constructed three clear try scoring opportunities through their backs but failed to come away with points.
Carnforth, despite lacking penetration in their back line, made yards through their pack and made best use of their field position with a penalty and drop goal before half time.
In the second half Carnforth completely dominated the lineout leaving Chorley to attack through broken play.
Another penalty for Carnforth left Chorley chasing the game for the final 20 minutes.
A missed penalty attempt by captain Simon Frost and another attack thwarted on the five metre line by the backs were the closest Chorley came in a frustrating encounter which could easily have gone the other way had the forwards clicked and early chances been taken.
