Already guaranteed a place in the promotion play-offs, Chorley failed to earn the point to ensure a home semi-final tie with a lacklustre display against a Nantwich side who scorned chances to wrap up victory before finally doing so.
The Magpies’ play lacked its usual spark and they struggled at times both in midfield and defensively.
The game was slow to catch fire and there were few chances in the first half.
Nantwich should have gone ahead within a minute of the restart but in an incredible scramble in the Chorley six-yards’ box three successive shots were blocked when a goal seemed certain.
Moments later, the Magpies’ best effort of the match saw Chris Denham rattle he bar.
Chorley were made to may nine minutes from time when Tom Unwin scored from 10 yards.
