Chorley delivered the second of a trio of pre-Christmas wins targeted by manager Steve Waywell — but they left it late in the game to seal the points.
The Magpies came from behind to lead at the break thanks to two goals in as many minutes just before half time.
But Albion’s bold rally in the last half hour looked to have rescued a point until Chorley skipper Wayne Maden proved the match-winner three minutes from the end.
Albion survived a shaky start to snatch the lead after 17 minutes when Shane Kelsey planted a free header past Zac Hibbert.
And after Nathan James wasted a chance to double that lead, Chorley stunned Albion with a quick one-two, first when Chris Amadi expertly controlled Alex Porter’s quick free kick and slid the ball past Lee Ashforth.
Then, a minute later, Porter’s lay-off enabled Dan Lloyd-McGoldrick to beat Ashforth with a deflected drive from 15 yards.
The Magpies had chances to extend their lead after the restart but Ossett were level on 71 minutes through a Shane Kelsey spot-kick.
Just when a draw seemed certain, Maden pounced to score after Porter’s free kick was partially cleared.
