Two goals in the last three minutes gave the Magpies some reward for a demanding first run-out against a polished and always sharper Northwich at Chorley Nissan Victory Park.
The Blue Square side snatched the lead at the end of a lively first half and added a second through a quality strike midway through the second period. Magpies’ centre-back James Mullineux then unluckily diverted a dangerous low centre into his own net to put Vics firmly in command.
But Chorley gained momentum in the last quarter of the game and Steve Burke was rewarded for his tireless running with a neat finish before Chris Brookes promptly added further respectability to the scoreline with a well-placed shot.
