CHORLEY Football Club have forged a link with Myerscough College in a bid to unearth potential first-team stars of the future.

The Magpies have decided to run both a reserve side and a youth team next season, and they plan to use some of the players from Myerscough’s soccer academy, where the club’s assistant manager, Phil Brown, holds a senior position.

Chorley boss Tony Hesketh said: “I hope it will produce a production line of talent for us that will filter through into the first team.

“There were a lot of youngsters in last season’s squad, who are good enough and committed enough to build a side round.

“I feel it is in the long-term interests of the club to develop a young side.”

Chorley reserves will compete in the Lancashire League next season, and the club have also entered a team in the FA Youth Cup for the first time in years.
