Vics to visit for Chorley pre-season fixture

Chorley have a tasty pre-season fixture with the visit of Blue Square Premier club Northwich Victoria to the Chorley Nissan Victory Park Stadium on July 12.

The game will be an attractive opener to the pre-season campaign, three days before the Magpies take on Preston North End for the Jack Kirkland Trophy.

Vics’ player-manager Noureddine 'Dino' Maamria, a former Tunisia Under-21 striker who took over last year, is expected to field a useful team of Blue Square players. His pedigree includes spells with Doncaster Rovers, Southport, Leigh RMI, Stevenage Borough and Rushden and Diamonds, as well as a stint in the United States with Charleston.

Meanwhile there will be new ground for players and supporters in the new season with the admission of Durham City, Salford City and, provisionally, Halifax Town to the UniBond North.

Halifax, who were demoted from the Blue Square Premier this year, have been given until Tuesday, June 24, to submit a business plan to the UniBond League.

Chorley will renew rivalry with Colwyn Bay and Warrington Town, transferred from the First Division South, and Trafford, who were promoted as North West Counties champions.

The fixture list will be issued early July.
