Chorley manager Tony Hesketh expects to have a number of key newcomers on board when pre-season training starts in three weeks’ time, writes John Newman.

He said: “I have had talks with a number of players already this month and hope to make some announcements next week.” Magpies defender Ian Taylor will miss the pre-season as he is playing in Australia but will be back in September.

Midielder Gavin-Lee Ellison has not had his contract renewed. He is currently playing the United States.

Chorley are hoping to confirm details of a match against Scottish First Division club Greenock Morton at the Chorley Nissan Victory Park Stadium on Thursday, July 10.

The following Tuesday, July 15, brings the annual Jack Kirkland Trophy match against Preston North End.

Chorley will be in East Lancashire on Wednesday, July 23, away to Ramsbottom United, and on Saturday, July 26, at Victoria Park to play Nelson.

Premier League outfit Bolton Wanderers will be the visitors to Victory Park on Saturday, August 2, and on Tuesday, August 5, the Magpies will visit Daisy Hill.

A friendly against newly-promoted League One club Stockport County on Saturday, August 9, has still to be confirmed.
