CHORLEY now know who they will face in the FA Cup first round but boss Matt Jansen is not looking past tonight’s fourth qualifying round replay with Northwich Victoria.

The Magpies drew 0-0 with their Evo-Stik League Premier Division opponents on Friday evening and should they progress tonight Jansen’s men will host Boreham Wood.

But the Chorley chief is focused on overcoming Northwich before making any plans for the National League side.

“We know now what we have if we can overcome Northwich,” Jansen said.

“It’s a great competition and we have got to do a job first against Northwich on Tuesday night.

“We will have our fans behind us. I dot think they will relish coming to our place.”

Jansen felt his side were unlucky not to beat Vics first time round and knows the importance to the club of a place in round one.

“It’s massive,” he added. “That was my team talk, who wants to be in the first round proper? It’s 20-25 years since we have been there. It is huge and it will be great revenue.

“It was always going to be tough. They have won every game bar one including pre-season and it was at their place so they were going to come at us. It was a massive game and a massive cup tie.

“They are a good team, they are a good outfit. We were not going to take them lightly. They were what we expected but for me in the second half we were a lot better than they were and we were unfortunate not to get the result.

“We had four or five coach loads spurring the lads on and we didn’t want to let them down either.”

And Jansen also hopes a cup run can have an impact on Chorley’s National League North form.

The Magpies are currently 11th, eight points off the play-offs but with a game in hand on several of the sides above them.

“Winning always spurs you on,” Jansen told the club’s official website.

“Every game I want to win. Winning becomes a habit as does losing. It builds confidence and it builds belief and puts fear into the opposition. Any cup run or any win obviously helps.”

Josh Hine (shoulder) went off during Friday night’s tie but Jansen but should recover.
