AN impressive second-half fightback brought Chorley a third straight away win courtesy of a brace from Josh Hine, now the league’s joint top scorer with seven goals.

The mercurial Magpies, having surprisingly lost three out of four at Victory Park, again reserved their best form for their loyal travelling supporters.

One down at the break after Boston’s Jay Rollins had scored, the visitors responded magnificently to manager Matt Jansen’s interval pep-talk. Once they had equalised on the hour, they were never in trouble.

Chorley had an escape when Dayle Southwell’s deep cross reached Rollins whose header rattled the far post. Southwell was involved in the opening goal, combining neatly with Mark Jones to leave Rollins with a simple finish.

Hine’s equalised with a firm shot from outside the penalty area which beat keeper Henrich Ravas at his near post. On 69 minutes he met Andy Bond’s deep diagonal cross to score with a downward header.

Shell-shocked Boston rarely threatened the Chorley goal thereafter, the nearest they came to an equaliser being a deflected shot which flew just wide to the relief of keeper Sam Ashton.

It was Chorley who almost had the final say in added time, Stephenson turning quickly to get in a strong shot which flew straight at Ravas.

Lamenting what he described as his side’s “capitulation” in the second half, Boston manager Dennis Greene said: “Once Chorley went ahead we never looked like getting back into the game.”

Jansen’s men will now hope to carry extra confidence into Tuesday’s big match when they host fifth-placed Stockport County (kick-off 7.45).
