CHORLEY will host FC United of Manchester in the last 32 of the FA Trophy.

Garry Flitcroft’s side booked their spot in the second round after seeing off Guiseley 2-0 at the weekend and will now face FC United, who play one division below Chorley in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

Magpies manager Flitcroft was thrilled with the victory over Conference North promotion rivals Guiseley.

The former Blackburn Rovers captain said: “Every one of them was outstanding and I was made-up with them all.

“It was a magic performance and it let them go out and enjoy their Christmas party.

“It also set a marker down. Guiseley are a good side, they have been going well and come the end of the season they will be up there.

“But we’ve proved we can beat the sides at the top of the division.

“FA Trophy is great but our main is promotion and, as I say, we’ve set a good marker down.

“I just wanted a home tie and a big crowd. Our away fans have been superb and let’s hope we generate that atmosphere at Victoria Park.”

Chorley yesterday also discovered their semi-final opponents in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy.

They will face North West Counties Division One side Holker Old Boys in the last four.

The tie will be played on Tuesday, February 17, at Leyland.

Chorley are overwhelming favourites in a competition they were runners-up in last year.

In the other semi-final Clitheroe will face Atherton Collieries on Tuesday, February 24.

The final will take place at the Macron Stadium, the home of Championship side Bolton Wanderers.

Ramsbottom United were not in the draw for the FA Trophy second round after they were beaten 3-0 at home by Conference North big-hitters Stockport County on Saturday.

But Rams boss Anthony Johnson was pleased with the character his side showed in defeat.

He said: “You could tell they were from a level above but we played some good stuff.

“I said that we didn’t want to be gallant losers but that is what we ended up being.

“We had more of the possession and a lot of chances but we didn’t take them. They got a very soft penalty early on and the second goal was from a set-piece so it wasn’t like they cut us open.

“I think we can take some belief from that game though. We have a lot of games over Christmas and New Year now and we have to re-focus.”

All FA Trophy second-round ties must be played on Saturday, January 10, with replays on or before Thursday, January 15.
