Chorley facing a big league weekend
2:10pm Friday 24th August 2012 in Chorley CC
CHORLEY skipper Andrew Holdsworth returns to lead his side in a triple-header weekend as the Windsor Park outfit bid to hoist themselves away from the lower reaches of the Northern League table.
Chorley have had a torrid time this term and have slipped to third from bottom – and their task is made no easier tomorrow when they face high-flying Leyland at Fox Lane.
Leyland are in fourth spot and still have an outside chance of the title and are favourites against Chorley, who have won just three games all season.
Holdsworth’s men face the Lancashire Colts at Windsor Park on Sunday in a game they are expected to win, before attention turns to Monday’s derby with Darwen.
The Towers are also in the wrong half of the table but they have been hit harder than most by the weather and they look for the points against Preston at Birch Hall.
The sides played out a thrilling tie at West Cliffe earlier in the season and Darwen are without Alex Davies, who is still in Australia with England in the ICC Under 19 World Cup.
Elsewhere Enfield’s professional Werner Coetsee is in action for Kendal as they bid to keep up the pressure on the top two Barrow and Fleetwood.
The South African fills in for the Westmorland outfit in their game with Barrow, which takes top billing on the day, as Kiwi Test man Jamie How has returned home.
