Chorley were beaten at Morecambe. Their day was already turning the wrong way when they were caught in giant tailbacks on the M6 and arrived at Woodhill Lane late, meaning the game was reduced to 43 overs.
But they pushed Morecambe close and it took a cameo from home skipper Tommy Clough to steer his side to victory.
Clough hit an unbeaten 18 off only six balls to lead Morecambe home by three wickets with seven balls in hand.
Chorley posted a competitive 156-7 with Jack Bentham making 34, Will Moulton 32 and sub pro Gaurav Dhar 30.
Ikram Ullah hit 32 and Phil Dennison 38 as Morecambe reached 106-2 in reply before leg-spinner Dhar (4-66) induced a collapse, clean bowling three of his victims until Clough came in to play a true captain’s role.
