Chorley professional JJ Smuts is bang in form.
The class act South African hit a remarkable 177 not out against Carnforth last Saturday.
Smuts peppered the Lodge Quarry boundaries and clattered his final 77 runs from just 22 balls with 10 sixes.
Though he will end his Chorley career prematurely having been called up for the South Africa Emerging Players tour of Australia at the end of July, Smuts still has realistic hopes of beating Stuart Duff’s club record of 719 runs set back in 1987.
Chorley make the long trip to Barrow tomorrow for their game at the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground.
And they are in action on Sunday as they play in the first round of the Readers Cup.
Chorley go to Kendal, with the game starting at 2pm.
