REX Purnell spun Chorley to a marvellous win at Carnforth as the locals moved back into third place in the Northern League on Saturday.
Purnell claimed 6-35 from 25 unchanged overs to restrict Carnforth to a modest 121-9 at their own, postage stamp sized Lodge Quarry ground.
Billy Smith, pictured, also claimed three wickets as Chorley made the most of a testing track in North Lancashire.
But Chorley then made light of the conditions to race home inside 26 overs with Queensland ace Chris Hartley smashing 85 not out from just 65 balls as the locals strolled to a seven-wicket win.
A rain reduced match at Darwen proved to be a thriller - but painful for the locals as Kendal beat them with just two balls remaining at Birch Hall.
In a 29 over game, Darwen professional David Wiese top scored with 26 as the locals managed to post 82-9.
Wiese then ripped out Nick Phillips and the dangerous Terry Hunte for ducks as Darwen piled the pressure on Kendal.
And with Kamran Anwar claiming three wickets, a shock win was on the cards, especially when Donovan du Plessis was out for a top score of 29.
Wiese went on to claim 6-36 from 14.4 overs but the last pair of Stuart Nelson and Stuart Parkin managed to squeeze home to take the points back up the M6.
It’s derby day today as Chorley welcome Darwen to Windsor Park.
