Chorley overcome Darwen

Chorley CC pulled clear at the top of the Northern Premier Cricket League after a straightforward Bank Holiday victory away at Darwen.

They now lead the table by seven points after the nine wicket victory with their nearest rivals St Annes having played a game less.

Spin bowling was the key to restricting Darwen to 99, with spinners Ian Oakes and Rex Purnell each taking three wickets medium pacer Jim Lee two.

Chris Lowe top scored for the home side who won the toss and decided to bat.

High flying Chorley strode to a facile victory in just 26 overs, losing only captain Jack Catterall during their run pursuit.

Opener Josh Tolley scored 57, ably backed by Aussie pro, Chris Hartley who finished with an unbeaten 36.
