Chorley win at Barrow

2:09pm Monday 11th May 2009

BARROW 56 all out, CHORLEY 128 for 4. (Chorley, 15 pts, won by 72 runs).

Chorley recorded a second successive maximum 15pts victory in a reduced-overs match at Barrow to move into second place in the Northern Premier League.

Opener Josh Tolley led the way with 58, strongly supported in a stand of 87 by Ian Oakes, who finished 50 not out, as Chorley totalled 128 for 4 from 33 overs.

Tolley then excelled with six catches behind the stumps as Barrow in reply were shot out for just 56 in 25.2 overs.

Bill Smith, brother of Lancashire’s Tom Smith, fully exploited a seaming pitch in capturing 5 for 31, backed up by Nigel Eastham (2 for 9) and Kieran McCullagh (2 for 14).

Still without their professional for this match, Chorley will be boosted by the belated clearance given to Australian pro Chris Hartley, now due to arrive in midweek ahead of next Saturday’s home match against Fleetwood.
