The auction of a signed cricket bat owned by England star, Andrew Flintoff, helped fetch more than £700 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
The bat went under the hammer on Saturday at a charity cricket match between doctors and managers from the Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, based in Chorley.
It sold for £250 at the auction, held at Whittingham cricket club, near Goosnargh.
The match was part of the Ray of Hope campaign, which aims to raise £650,000 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
A raffle at the event raised a further £480 for the good cause that is aiming to raise funds to buy state-of-the-art radiotherapy equipment to help cancer sufferers across Lancashire.
It is the second time a charity match has raised money for the appeal, and the doctors avenged their defeat of last year with a comprenhensive 80 run victory.
