CHORLEY Cricket Club fell to defeat on their Northern Premier League opener againstLeyland.

Leyland were on top throughout and ran out 73-run winners at Windsor Park.

Richardt Frenz and Andrew Makinson both hit half centuries for Leyland whose decision to bat first paid off as they ran up a total of 192-6.

Chorley’s new overseas amateur Brenton McDonald took 2-39 in his debut.

But their reply stalled with only opener David Fisher (17) and tailenders Chris Harty (16) and Michael Mead (24) offering any resistance as they were bowled out for 119.
