Chorley boxer Jack Catterall is gearing up for the biggest weekend of his sporting life so far as he makes his professional debut on Saturday.

Jack, 19, takes on Carl Allen at Bowler’s, in Manchester, after months of preparation, some of it spent at a training camp in Miami.

Jack, who fights at lightweight, had an outstanding amateur career, where he fought out of Chorley ABC, and later Leigh ABC.

At this early stage of his career, the bout will consist of four, three-minute rounds .

His trainer is Manchester based Lee Beard, well known for his past work as assistant trainer to Ricky Hatton. He was also the trainer of Ricky’s younger brother, Matthew Hatton.

Beard has also worked with Floyd Mayweather Senior.

Hundreds of supporters are expected to make the journey from Chorley to see Jack’s introduction into the pro ranks.
