Chorley welterweight Michael Jennings will fight Jason Rushton on Friday night in Scotland as he warms up for an opportunity on the world stage.

WBU champion Jennings is being linked to a showdown with former WBA/WBO champ Miguel Angel Cotto in early 2009.

The 31-year-old will take on Rushton at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow in a fight which will be shown live on TV.

Rushton, undefeated in his first 13 fights, has not been in great form of late, losing six of his last 11.

But the 25-year-old from Doncaster will be a danger unless Jennings is fully focused.

Jennings has already boxed twice this year, defeating Ross Minter to retain his WBU crown, and then stopping George Ungiadze in a non-title fight.
