Club honours shared in tough village race


Intrepid Chorley Harrier Jenny Wyles took part in the Wye Ultra 30 mile trail race at Ross on Wye which consisted of four laps of 7.5 miles.

She acquitted herself well covering the distance in 4.55 and was the second LV40 to finish.

Dominic Raby was the first Harrier in the Half Tour of Pendle completing the race, which took place in wintry showers of hail and rain, in 1.10.56. Mark Ellithorn ran strongly for 1.18.12, as did Paul Jackson 1.26.46. Lynne Clough showing her style led the Harriers ladies home in 1.26.55.

Jan Atkins was the final finisher for Chorley she took the prize for the first FV60.

The 21st Roddlesworth Roller Six Mile Multi Terrain race which took place in Abbey Village in biting, icy conditions on Sunday drew a record entry of 302 hardy runners. First home, finishing a minute ahead of his nearest rival, was Blackburn Harrier junior Karl Billington clocking 32 minutes and 57 seconds.

Former winner Rob Jackson, now a vet 40, finished in second place but well over 30 seconds in front of third place Middleton Harrier’s Mike Flatley.

Chorley Harrier Phil Iddon took the local bragging rites, but Chorley AC finished stronger in the vets team event.
