Eight place finish for Chorley AC


Chorley AC finished eighth overall in the South East Lancashire cross-country race at Lilford Park, Leigh.

Luke Betts who was second (12:49) in the U15s with Ryan Sciacca very close behind in fifth (13:27).

Sean Wareing then gained first junior man in 37th( 42:25) gaining revenge for last weeks defeat by father Paul 51st(43:52) who just outsprinted Simon Townsend 52nd(43:55).

David Taylor followed in 68th (47:18) with Henry Minorczyk 82nd (50:57); both on the come back trail. Barry Chester finished 91st (53:24), with Michael Murray 93rd(56:37), Les Paul 95th (64:04) and Mike Coppin 96th (68:50).

Chorley AC were eighth team overall, tenth and 16th vet40 teams and 4th vet 50team with Henry Minorczyk, Les Paul & Mike Coppin again winning 1st vet 60 team.

Next Saturday sees the last Red Rose race at Marl Pitts, Rossendale, with some AC athletes in favourable positions to pick up possible prizes with the best placed being Luke Betts in fourth with Ryan Sciacca (13th) and Michael Murray (24th) in team U15 which is also fourth. Ruth Whipp is currently 8th in the U11s.

The men's and vets teams are tenth and 11th overall with Paul Wareing, Barry Chester and Phil McCullagh looking to take team glory in the vets.
