Johnston first Chorley Harrier home in cross country race

Chorley Harriers had 18 runners taking part in the Mid Lancs Cross Country League race in Liverpool.

This also incorporated the UK Challenge so a lot of the country’s best runners were on display and there were big fields in all the races despite the bitter cold and fog.

Bethany Blackwell and Meghan Adamson went in the U11 Girls and finished eighth and 23rd both enjoying their run and doing well in a high class field.

Dan Whitlock was 31st in the U13 Boys race and in the U15 Girls Sophie Broome led her team mates home in 31st place and was closely followed by Imogen Crabtree and Jessie Scott having their own private battle for 36th and 37th place.

Mark Brown was the sole representative in the U15 Boys gaining a creditable 39th place. In the U 17 men’s race Sam Entwistle found the finish just in front of Ryan Downs 32nd and 33rd with James Shuttleworth coming 42nd.

Lisa Johnston flew the flag for the Harriers in the Senior Ladies and pushed herself into 33rd place.

In the senior men’s race Keith Johnston led the Chorley Harriers home in 31st position, Mark Ellithorn was 37th and Paul Jackson 99th Phil Iddon was next Harrier home in 116th place, a great effort as he had ran a PB earlier in the day at Wesham 10k. Postman Garry Platt came next with his black and white vest in 122nd David Williams was 131st Graham Schofield 141st and John McDonald chased them.
