Two races in a day for Chorley runner Iddon

Chorley Harrier Phill Iddon had a busy day on Saturday running in the the Wesham 10k race finishing twith a personal best time of 37.38, before leaping into his car and driving to Liverpool, where he competed in the Mid Lancs XCross Country League event.

Almost 500 runners took part in the Wesham race with Harriers Nicola Raby completing it in a good time of 42.02 and Julie Lundrigan pleased with her time of 52.45.

Chorley Harrier Dan Whitlock was first junior home in the the ‘Best Fun Run’ the following day, held in memorial to Paul Best, recording a time of 21, 20 with a superb run in the frosty conditions, just one minute and twenty seconds behind his father Chris who runs for Wesham.

John McDonald, the oldest active member of Chorley Harriers, was first MV65 recording 24.27. Jon Tuson also turned out for this one and was happy with his time of 24.27.

Elsewhere in the county Chorley Harriers took part in the Dave Staff Memorial Fell Race with a half dozen entering this. Mark Ellithorn had a superb run in this event finishing in sixth place and 1st MV40 recording a time of 36.20. Paul Jackson, also a MV40 finished well in 40.43. James Matthews was the third male to finish for the Harriers In 43.35. Slightly in front of James was the first of the three ladies Jaquie Redmayne took 43.13 to complete the course and was third lady overall and 1st FV35 Marie Dewhurst was 3rd LV45 with a time of 54.08 and Jan Atkins had a superb run to finish 1st FV60 with 54 55.

All Chorley Harriers are asked to turn up for a junior/senior club event to take place from Parklands High School at 6pm on Thursday December 18.
