Chorley Harriers hosted the annual Sweatshop 10 mile road race from Worden Park, Leyland, with a strong turnout of 219 runners from across the region facing blustery conditions over the two lap course.

Rossendale's Andy Buttery took first place in 56.14 with Preston Harrier Gary Pennington just seconds behind.

From the home club, a special mention must go to blind athlete Mike Ogle who finished with his guide Steve Thomas in 1.22.12 having completed a duathlon race the previous day.

First Harrier home was Mark Ellithorn 1.02.58. Paul Jackson produced another fine run for 41st spot in 1.05.22, whilst first Chorley lady home was Pam Smith in 1.17.00.

The club also hosted a 2.5k fun run with proceeds going to Derian House Children's Hospice.

Young Harrier Mark Brown's winning time of 10.11 just held off the challenge of club mate Ciaran Downs who is improving with every race at present. Girl's captain Alice Alcock took 4th place overall with a great run in 11.16.
