A small band of Chorley athletes took on the first SE Lancs cross country at Heaton Park in its centenary year.

In the U11s Luke Hunter and Caitlin McCarrick both ran well for 9th place with Emily Hunter seconds later in 11th.

In the senior men, Paul Wareing (71st) led the team home with Simon Townsend (88th) in close attention then Phil McCullagh (159th), Eddie Murray (163rd) with Mike Coppin(164th) closing proceedings.

The next XC race is in three weeks’ time on Saturday, November 10 at Hyndburn before which this weekend is the Preston and the Accrington 10K.

This weekend is a quiet one with possibly the Great Whernside fell race on Saturday or the Preston Guild on the Sunday.

The following week has Shepherds Skyline and the tough Thro' the Villages from the Dressers Arms at Wheelton.
