Chorley narrowed the gap on Evo-Stik Premier Division leaders Chester to just two points with a win in Buxton.
The Magpies went ahead after five minutes as Chris Denham’s 25-yard deflected free kick wrong-footed keeper Scott Hartley.
Buxton levelled in the 19th minute when Brad-ley Barraclough headed home Grant Black’s cross and Steve Foster then hit the bar for Chorley.
But Garry Flitcroft’s side were back in front in the 68th minute as Adam Roscoe headed home before Foster’s 35-yard snap shot made it 3-1 five minutes later.
Chorley remain fourth but closed the gap after Chester were beaten at home by second-placed Hednesford.
