Burnley pace ace James Anderson will not be on the plane when Lancashire fly off to Barbados for their pre-season tour next weekend – but head coach Peter Moores expects the star bowler to be fit for the County Championship opener next month.
The England star has been given time off international duty in Bangladesh and he will work on his fitness while his county colleagues head to the West Indies for their two-week tour.
But Moores says it is likely Anderson will line up for the Red Rose in their Old Trafford opener against Warwickshire before England duty takes priority.
“He is doing well,” said Moores. “Jimmy has done 24 months’ solid cricket and when you stop it takes time to settle down.
“The idea is to ease him back in after his break.”
