NETHERFIELD 211 for 6 CHORLEY 209 for 3 Netherfield won by 4 wkts) Chorley suffered an unexpected defeat by Netherfield in a run-feast at Parkside Road and saw their lead at the top of the Northern Premier League halved to eight points.

Put in to bat, Chorley racked up an impressive 209 for 3 from 43 overs, professional Chris Hartley (70) sharing an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership with Will Moulton, who displayed some clean hitting to reach a maiden century and 107. But on a superb batting track it proved insufficient.

Although Netherfield looked like falling short with six wickets down in mid-chase, a stubborn seventh-wicket stand changed the course of the match and saw them to victory with an over to spare.

John Huck hit 87 not out and was solidly supported by Chris Miller’s more restrained 29.

For Chorley, Matthew Parry bowled admirably to finish with 4 for 30 from 15 controlled overs but his colleagues could not find the spark which has characterised the side’s recent run of six wins.
