European Masters win for Chorley walker

Chorley Athletic Club chairman, John Payn achieved another success in the European Masters Athletic Championships in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

John took part in the gruelling 20K race walk and despite extremely hot and humid conditions powered his way to another Team Gold Medal for GB in 2 hrs 23 mins 56 secs.

John also took the bronze medal to add to his already existing magnificent tally of major championship medals.

Terry Dickenson,promotions officer for Chorley AC hails John's achievements rating them as " ... a highly unique achievement and gives John the distinction of being one of the highest decorated major championship athletes the town has known.

"John couldn't stop to give me more information as he was of to do a coaching session with young athletes! Now that's what we call dedication!"
