Lancashire have loaned out former Chorley all-rounder Tom Smith to Leicestershire for a month-long period starting on Sunday.
Smith has not featured in Lancashire's first team so far this season except in a couple of Twenty20 Cup matches.
Lancashire currently have several fast bowlers available for selection, including Andrew Flintoff, and the county believe Smith will be have a better chance of gaining further first team experience at Leicestershire.
Smith, 22, goes straight into Leicestershire’s squad for their LV County Championship Division Two fixture against Worcestershire CCC at Grace Road starting on Sunday.
Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson said: "Tom has recently missed seven weeks of cricket due to a thigh injury. This loan spell is a great opportunity for him to get some regular First Team experience on his return to action."
The loan agreement allows Smith to be recalled if required by Lancashire.
