Burnley have completed the signing of England Under-20 midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

Ramsey has put pen to paper over a five-year deal at Turf Moor, having come through the youth ranks at Villa Park.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut in an EFL Cup tie against Barrow in August 2021 before heading on loan to Cheltenham Town in January 2022.

He also had stints at Norwich City and Middlesbrough last term, scoring five goals in 11 matches to help Boro secure a play-off spot.

Ramsey has been capped by England from Under-16 to Under-20 levels and was part of the squad that won the U19 European Championship last year.

“I’m absolutely buzzing,” he told the club website. “I have been waiting to be a Burnley player for a while now and I’m really happy it’s all officially done now. I can’t wait to get started.

“I can’t wipe my smile off my face. When you come to a new club you want the lads to welcome you in and everyone here has done that straight away.

“It’s been really easy to settle, everyone has been amazing.”

Ramsey becomes the Clarets’ second signing of the day after 24-year-old centre-back Hannes Delcroix joined from Anderlecht, reuniting with Vincent Kompany.

Burnley are back in action in Sunday afternoon when they welcome Aston Villa to Turf Moor (2pm).

Kompany's men were beaten 3-0 by treble winners Manchester City on the opening day. Erling Haaland bagged a brace and Rodri also managed to get on the scoresheet that night.
