LEYLAND Warriors Under-9s were on the road again for a league game due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather in Leyland.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the weather that halted the Warriors but the Rylands Sharks’ defence .
Straight away Rylands set a standard in defence as they did throughout the game.
However, it was matched by a determined Warriors side that had put in some serious effort this week in training to match them tackle by tackle.
Rylands managed to score three times in quick succession due to some quick play the balls which caught Leyland off guard.
This didn’t stop the Warriors from trying to play good rugby and that they did by continuously throwing the ball around and taking the game to their opponents.
Both teams were playing some great rugby in torrential downpours and this didn’t disappoint the crowd being entertained by both teams.
But after going down by three scores in the first quarter the rest of game was pretty even with Rylands eventually gaining a 7-3 winning margin over Leyland.
Noah Pridgeon made his debut for the club and he did not disappoint.
He put in a man of the match performance by running the ball hard and gaining valuable ground and also by making some very good tackles.
In doing so he bagged a try too which delighted everyone watching.
All 10 of the boys played outstanding and with pride and they can hold their heads high knowing they gave every effort to try and win that game.
Another special mention goes to Richard Baldwin who managed to grab himself two tries in treacherous conditions.
The Warriors scorers were Richard Baldwin (two) and one by Noah Pridgeon.
Today’s top tackler went to Harry Ridding for some excellent tackles being made by good technique and continuous improvement.
