IT was honours-even in the West Lancashire League on Saturday as fourth-placed Euxton Villa hosted the team below them Garstang.
Manager Mark McDonnell believed the draw was a ‘fair result’ and they will be looking to put on a display against Blackpool Wren Rovers this weekend.
He said: “ It was always going to be a tight game and they have had a good season.
“We had quite a few opportunities in the first half with Connor Gronback and Greg Johnston going close while Liam Higginbottam making some good saves.
“Both teams tried to get on top in the second half and Garstang forced Liam (Higginbottom) into making a few saves and Sam Bolton also cleared the ball off the line.
“Connor (Gronback) had a chance but could not take the opportunity and then George Davies was also foiled.
“It was a good point and no-one really deserved to win it.
“We have Blackpool next and then Garstang again.
“We are really looking for third spot now and have a good squad to do it.
“It would be a good end to the season if we got there.”
Euxton Villa are going to be running their summer tournament in June and July and any junior clubs should get in touch by contacting Graham Walker on 01772457162 or email email@example.com.
Manager McDonnell said: “There will be seven or eight categories from under-6s to juniors.
“It is a great event and will be an opportunity for kids to just enjoy playing football.
“We are a community club and have got 30 teams playing football.
“It is fantastic and it will be a great chance to fundraise for the club and also get to use the facilities down at the club.”
