CHORLEY chairman Ken Wright believes the Magpies face a tough task to gatecrash the National League North play-offs after a 1-1 midweek draw with Gloucester City.

The result leaves the Magpies eighth in the table, eight points off the top five ahead of Saturday's trip to struggling AFC Telford United.

"I am a realist," said Wright. "I think that unless we are capable of putting eight straight wins together we have little opportunity of getting into the play offs but you never know.

"We will remain optimistic and if we continue to play like we have over the last number of games then we will win more than we lose.

"We want to finish as high as we can in the league for the great support that we get from our supporters."

Wright, speaking to the club's official website, revealed he had already held talks with Magpies boss Matt Jansen to outline the club's aims for next season.

Wright added: "I have had discussions with Matt and the management team and we are more than aware of what needs to be done and what the expectations are and what plans they need to put in place.

"We are already going through that process at the moment"
