CHORLEY travel to Lincolnshire for Saturday’s Conference North semi final second leg with everything to play for after drawing 0-0 at home to Boston United last night.

A crowd of 2,022 watched on at Victory Park as the Magpies played out a cagey first leg, with a draw a fair result against former Football League club Boston.

Chorley finished the regular season in fourth position, one place and one point behind Boston.

The goalless draw means that the tie remains all square ahead of the second leg at Boston’s York Street ground on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

In the other play-off semi final first leg last night AFC Fylde, who finished second in the table and went into the end of season knock-out competition as favourites to gain promotion, lost 1-0 at Guiseley.

The play-off final will take place on Saturday, May 9 at the home of the club that finished higher in the table.

Kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes last night because of traffic congestion, as a bumper crowd filtered their way into Victory Park.

Harry Winter fired an early effort over for the Magpies before Kaine Felix dragged a shot wide for the visitors.

Chorley keeper Sam Ashton then had to make a good save to deny Dayle Southwell as the game remained goalless at half time.

Boston had a fine opportunity to take the lead 10 minutes after the interval as Felix crossed from the right and found Mark Jones, who could only blaze over from only six yards.

Magpies boss Garry Flitcroft made his first change midway through the second half as he brought on Jake Cottrell in place of Harry Winter, but his side were producing few chances.

Chris Almond was also introduced for Jack Dorney, but neither side could do enough to break the deadlock as the match finished all square.
