Chorley Athletic and Triathlon club's junior section are much better off after a donation of £1,000 from the regular quiz-goers at St Joseph's Club, Harpers Lane in Chorley.
The quiz organised by Ron Heyes donates money each year to local organisations and charities and this year they chose the young athletes.
The money will be used to buy equipment for the juniors so those aged under 17 can continue their development of athletic skills and techniques and ensure they can participate in local and regional competitions.
Head Coach John Payn said: “This very generous donation will go some way towards enabling more of Chorley's youngsters to take part in athletics whether it is for fun or to compete in local and regional events.
“The junior section is going through some big exciting changes.
“We are always on the look-out for adult volunteers who are able to give an hour or so of their time to help us with this goal."

In the popular Park Run Series at Heaton Park, Lewis Tiley finished in 68th place posting 22:37 mins for the 5K course.
Meanwhile over at the Simister Race Walking Trophy race held in very cold and blustery conditions International Race Walker John Payn conquered the hilly 5K course in 36:58 whilst fellow club member Richard Robb V40 took on the longer 10K and finished in 68 minutes.
Both race walkers finished an excellent 2nd in their respective races.
